Welcome Neville Lang

Our Solar Fire team is pleased to welcome Neville Lang to the role of Technical Director of Esoteric Technologies.

Neville has been associated with our company since 1994 acting as an agent for the sale of the Solar suite of programs. He has also been part of our technical support team for a number of years.

Neville has been in the computer industry since 1970 and has been a software developer in his own business since 1986 both the business world as well as the astrology world. Neville has been a student of astrology since 1970 and is the developer of the Astracadabra astrology program for PocketPCs and Pocket PC phones.

Neville will be working closely with Stephie Johnson and the Solar Fire team on the current Solar suite.

REVIEW PAGE DESIGNS

You can now enjoy a new feature in Solar Fire Gold whereby you can preview the various page designs, including the Chart Art pages, just like you can now do with Wheel Styles (a new feature in Solar Fire

Gold), though it is procedurally different. Here are the steps:

* Startup Solar Fire Gold

* Open an existing chart or enter a new chart and have it highlighted on the

Calculated Charts list

* Double-click on the highlighted chart in the Calculated Charts list to

display the default page on the “View Chart” screen

* Click on the “Pages” button and you will see a list of Page Categories, as

before.

* At the bottom right of that screen, you will see a new feature named “Auto

Apply”. Click on it to see a tick mark.

Now, each time you click on any page design, including all of the Chart Art

pages, you will see the screen automatically update giving you a “preview”

of all of the page layouts.

SOLAR FIRE AND MACS

Yes. Solar Fire Gold can be used on Mac computers. The answer is that although Solar Fire and our other products have been developed for the Microsoft Windows PC platform, more and more astrologers are enjoying Solar Fire on their Mac computers. A number of our customers are successfully operating these products on Macs using software such as Parallels Desktop 3.0 or VMWare Fusion for Mac (with Windows), or Windows emulation software like Softwindows or Virtual PC. Although we cannot guarantee technical support relating to Mac or to the Windows emulation software, we will do what we can to assist with any problems, if any should arise.

If you would like to run Solar Fire on your own Mac, then we suggest that you download a Demonstration program from our website at www.esotech.com.au. If the demonstration program runs and prints successfully, then you can be confident that the full program will also work.

CALENDAR EXPORT

Solar Fire Gold's brand-new calendar puts whatever dynamic hits (mundane and/or personal) that you specify into beautiful daily, weekly or monthly calendar pages that you can view, print, sell and give to clients. These astro calendars can also be exported to a file, email or other calendar programs such as Microsoft Outlook. Plus, the transiting, progressed and directed aspects and ingresses have new interpretations that pop up on the screen and also print out in reports.

Sorry in Australia - Feb 13 2008 9am Canberra

In Canberra on Feb. 13, 2008 Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd voiced regret "for the pain, suffering and hurt" of the country's disadvantaged Aboriginal minority.

Website news reports state that the apology was read at 9am to the minute, as the first action of the second sitting day of the 42nd Parliament of Australia.  Both Mr Rudd and Indigenous Affairs Minister Jenny Macklin received a standing ovation as they entered the Great Hall before the Prime Minister delivered the speech.

The reading of the 361-word apology was completed by 9.30am and was watched by hundreds of parliamentarians, former prime ministers and representatives of the indigenous community.

In his speech Mr Rudd said: "I move that today we honour the indigenous peoples of this land, the oldest continuing cultures in human history.

We reflect on their past mistreatment.


We reflect in particular on the mistreatment of those who were stolen generations -- this blemished chapter in our nation's history.

The time has now come for the nation to turn a new page in Australia's history by righting the wrongs of the past and so moving forward with confidence to the future.

We apologise for the laws and policies of successive parliaments and governments that have inflicted profound grief, suffering and loss on these our fellow Australians.

We apologise especially for the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, their communities and their country.

For the pain, suffering and hurt of these stolen generations, their descendants and for their families left behind, we say sorry.

To the mothers and the fathers, the brothers and the sisters, for the breaking up of families and communities, we say sorry.

And for the indignity and degradation thus inflicted on a proud people and a proud culture, we say sorry.

We the Parliament of Australia respectfully request that this apology be received in the spirit in which it is offered as part of the healing of the nation. "

Yesterday, February 13, 2008 at 9am in Canberra, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd delivered an historic apology to Aborigines for past assimilation policies which saw thousands of children forcibly taken from their families. Although there is still a long way to go towards healing the great injustices that have been perpetrated on those of the Stolen Generation and all those that share and feel their pain, this act is a huge symbolic step forward. Kevin Rudd, Australia's new Prime Minister, made the apology a major priority and, indeed, it is one of the first things he accomplished after having been sworn in as P.M. Smack on 9am, at the opening of Parliament, it was the first order of business.

The astrological chart for Sorry Day is, of course, very telling. Occuring right between a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse, this event will go into the history books as a very important date in Australia's history. Saying 'sorry' was on the cards for a long time; people had been calling for it for years, but our last government was definitely reluctant (some would say recalcitrant!) - and, frankly, too mean-spirited and having one eye on the legalities and what it might cost if compensation was to be paid to all those hurt by the shameful practices that largely sprung from the White Australia Policy (a huge blot on our landscape). The man who had been our Prime Minister for 11 years 8 months and 22 days, John Howard, was nowhere to be seen.

The Sun is on Aquarius 24: A Man Turning His Back on His Passions Teaches Deep Wisdom From His Experience. I've found this degree often shows apologies or expressions of sorry... I've found it again and again. It's like one has to realise where one's gone wrong, realise where there's no longer any use in fighting - one has to 'turn one's back on their passions' and do something that comes from a far deeper place with far deeper meaning.

Interestingly, during the Opposition Leader's speech in reply to the Prime Minister's Apology, a huge number of people turned their back on Brendan Nelson, not only in Canberra, but around Australia where people were watching the broadcast on big screens in public venues, turning their back on him and his anachronistic government - all old hats sitting now in opposition since the election last November showed that the people needed new blood, new direction and younger sensibilities. Younger sensibilities are what lead to Sorry Day happening - we feel like a younger nation now, not so run by the old guard (that kiss the Queen's hem). Many of the Liberals didn't clap when PM Rudd finished his speech, didn't smile, didn't show any emotion. For them, I feel, they were flinching at this great moment in history that wasn't theres. 12 years of them calling the shots and no interest in saying Sorry...

Mercury, the planet of thought and communication, is retrograde on Aquarius 11: During a Silent Hour a Person Receives a New Inspiration That Could Change Their Life. For many, this is life-changing, as the nation somehow feels like it can start the healing and the cleansing in an authentic way.

It's clear, however, that many people feel that monetary compensation should have been part of the pledge. The Moon on Taurus 8 is rather unfortunate in that regard. The Sabian Symbol is A Sleigh Without Snow. This degree Symbol implies that money is not part of the current equation, and, indeed, it's a big issue. Certainly, Kevin Rudd is committed to improving the lives of aboriginees... it's a matter of time to see if he follows through on those promises.

Meanwhile, the nation can start healing in ways we weren't sure we were going to.

US ASTROLOGER DIANA K ROSENBERG also reflects on the official apology and its astrological significance....

"I'm fascinated by this event - an official and ceremonial apology to Australia's aborigines for the suffering and indignities inflicted upon them over the years, most particularly the snatching of children away from their families; I went looking to what was happening in the sky in 1910, when the kidnappings began --

There was a Solar Ecl on May 9 1910 at 17 Taurus 43; we just had an eclipse on Feb 7 at 17 Aquarius 44!

That 1910 eclipse was at the very earliest stars of the Taurus Bull, which in mythology, was Zeus, in disguise to kidnap Europa!

Uranus was at 25 Cap 12 rx, aligned with stars of Indus, the Indian, which I have found relates to all indigenous people, not only Amerinds.

The Node in 1910 was 28 Taurus; the Canberra Asc of the Feb 7 08 Ecl was 29 Taurus; these are the Pleiades, the Weeping Sisters (they bring rain, and it was raining at the ceremony; in symbolizm, rain = tears; in this case, they were tears of both sorrow (remembrance) and joy.

Here's a couple of "doozies" - at the "Saying Sorry" event, Mars was 25 Gemini 05; at the 1910 Eclipse, Pluto was 25 Gemini 29. The 1910 Uranus was 25 Cap 12 rx; "Sorry" event Venus was 24 Cap 07 (again,
an alignment with Indus stars).

Wow. I just checked Australia's charts; the 1910 Uranus and the ceremony's Venus was on the 1788 chart's Mercury and the Jan 1 1901, 1:25 PM's MC!

At the 1910 Eclipse run for Canberra, the Placidian 3rd cusp is 15 Sag 25; the Uranian planet Cupido (marriage, family, the arts, "the urge to merge") at the ceremony was 15 Sag 40, so you could say that a sense of family and community had come into the consciousness of whatever was happening in 1910. (Cupido is a bit slower than Pluto - it has a 262.5 year orbit).

The recent Aquarius eclipse aligned with the stars of little Delphinus, the Dolphin, a benefic, helpful critter.

Good to have some good news for a change!

Al Gore’s movie “An Inconvenient Truth” has drawn international acclaim for its factual, shocking theme of the finite nature of life on Earth as we know it, unless radical moves are taken to address and halt climate change. Al Gore has admitted in recent years that during his political career he became disillusioned with politics and now, following his long-standing interest in and concern about the environment, has “found another way to serve” which for him is more rewarding and effective.

His horoscope shows the Sun in Aries’ energy to lead and exert force is sublimated by an opposition with Neptune, suggesting that the Aries energy is directed towards an idealistic and visionary awareness. Neptune, ruler of the film industry, rules the 9th house of internationalism - which contains the Sun, ruler of his Ascendant - so there is indicated the potential for filmmaking with an international outreach. Mars (ruler of his Aries Midheaven) in Leo is in mutual reception with the 9th-house Sun, enhancing this potential for international success. The political potential is clear from these and other significators in the horoscope – without it, he probably would not have achieved the high profile internationally that is needed in order to get his warning about climate change across.

The idealist and visionary are given further scope by Mercury in Pisces, ruler of the 3rd house of mindset which contains Neptune, completing complementary aspect and rulership routings involving these planets with the Ascendant and Midheaven rulers, and the 3rd-9th polarity of communication and internationalism.

The practical, pragmatic Gore is seen through Venus in Taurus, suggesting an affinity with the Earth’s resources, and a Moon in Capricorn, which “needs to hear the grass grow” (Noel Tyl)*. This Moon on the cusp of the 6th house combines his workaholic ethos and “need to serve” with a desire to administer progress and make things happen.

A challenging configuration in the horoscope is the 1st-house Leo stellium of Pluto, Saturn and Mars, which square the Lunar Nodal Axis in 4th-10th. This suggests someone who could present as very serious and heavy-duty, perhaps lacking in humour. However, Saturn is at the midpoint of Mars/Pluto: “a person unafraid of hard work leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of a particular task; the desire to overcome difficulties and obstacles at all cost, forcibly” (Tyl)** suggests that he’s no quitter and this formidable configuration admirably supports the workaholic nature of his Capricorn 6th-cusp Moon. He has taken a run at both presidential and vice-presidential status in the USA more than once, a multiple attempt undertaken by very few. This Leo stellium linked with the Lunar Nodal Axis adds a sense of ballast, purpose and responsibility to what could have been a more lightweight approach to life through his more creative and visionary side, which needs the courage, mental application, drive and survival skills to get its idealism off the ground and working for him.

In Fixed Star terms, natal Saturn links with the star Alderamin culminating. Bernadette Brady*** interprets this as “a pessimistic leader in the establishment world” which is exactly how he seems to appear. Brady also speaks of Alderamin’s symbolism: “gentle male sovereignty …… a balanced male energy in harmony with the feminine and the Earth ...” which reflects perfectly his attitude and current mission.

Unsurprisingly for someone with an extraordinary message to convey and the international-scale means to do it, the Fixed Star Murzim rises exactly to the minute with his Ascendant! Murzim’s symbolism is as “the announcer” – “an opinionated person, someone who speaks out” (Brady).

Zosma, the star connected with sacrifice, is heliacal setting star in his horoscope – Brady’s interpretation: “independent, to prefer death rather than servitude to an unloved career” speaks of his rejection of the world of politics. It also speaks of his shock loss to George W Bush of the USA 2000 presidency, which by many accounts, was sabotaged by more powerful interests. Brady says: “Zosma …. belongs to those whom the establishment, either directly or indirectly, makes powerless”. This is very true of the events surrounding his attempt at the US presidency.

Solar Arc Directions which involve whole configurations making simultaneous hits over a relatively short period of time pinpoint major periods when developmental breakthroughs can occur. Currently Al Gore’s natal Mercury has arced to aspect (by 4th harmonic) his Leo stellium-Nodal axis configuration (suggesting his serious presence-message is given a publicly-heard voice), simultaneously with the latter configuration arcing to natal Sun-Neptune (the heavyweight person who “means business”, the harsh message potential involving the public, is brought to underpin his crusading, idealistic vision for the world environment).

He faces challenges ahead with transit Neptune opposing natal Mars, ruler of his MC. Detractors from the major polluters of big business will undoubtedly try to discredit his claims (which environmental experts like David Suzuki say could be just the tip of the iceberg – pun intended) and he could feel extremely frustrated. Transit Jupiter and Saturn will challenge his natal Venus by opposition and square aspect. Jupiter and Saturn together often concern “proving a point” which for him now, is very much the case.

However, transit Pluto conjoins his natal Moon-Jupiter conjunction over an extended period of time from late 2007, suggesting his enterprise will hit home in the right places, that he has captured the big picture and has had the power to make it appear, for everyone from the powerful to the man in the street. Already in our media in Australia, we are noticing a great change in awareness of the reality factor and more frequent mention of this urgent issue.

Through his crusade to warn of the dangers of global warming, it seems that Al Gore has found a much more effective platform for his aims and objectives than in the compromised world of politics.

Bindi was born on [that] Friday night, July 24, 1998" (pp. 175-177). The place of Nambour is presumed because it has the closest major hospitals to the township of Beerwah, including the Selangor Private Hospital which is attended by Dr. Tarr while also being a favourite birthing place for celebrities such as Pat Rafter and his wife. The recent funeral of her famous father, Aussie crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, saw an incredibly self-possessed 8-year-old deliver a eulogy that seemed to come from someone way past her years. We saw the showmanship and “the show must go on” ethic of her Sun-Moon combination in Leo, and felt the spirit of her father shining through her, encouraging all to carry on where he left off in his crusade of environmental care and consciousness involving our finite resources on Earth, and all living creatures.

Bindi’s natal horoscope features a t-square of Sun, Saturn and Neptune which itself can suggest a loss or sacrifice during the life - even martyrdom of some kind - involving the father figure, which in her case came to pass in a very untimely way.

Mars is a notorious trigger of eclipses, often at a date after the eclipse has occurred. However at her father’s sudden death, applying Mars triggered (ahead of time) the solar eclipse at 29 Virgo to occur on September 22, 2006. This eclipse and the Mars transit occurred at Bindi’s Descendant degree of 1 Libra, opposite her Ascendant-Jupiter conjunction. The 7th house in a person’s chart can often be activated at a parent’s death, the 7th being, derivatively, the 4th of the 4th house – combining the symbolism of a parent (4th house) with the symbolism of “an end of the matter” from traditional astrology.

The September 22nd solar eclipse occurred at what is known as the “Aries Point” or 0 degrees of one of the Cardinal signs. The Aries Point can have a very public thrust attached to it – when activated significantly, as in an eclipse or major transit, the potential for events and developments warranting a large amount of public concern are brought forward. This eclipse also carries the energies of transit Pluto in square with the Lunar Nodal Axis, suggesting large numbers of the public are concerned with Pluto-type symbolism, including matters of death and transformation.

Bindi’s natal Aries Point angles suggest the same potential for public projection, and she was a well-known personality long before her father’s death and is probably likely to continue as she has vowed to continue his work. Saturn and Neptune (part of her natal Sun t-square) have been transiting in hard aspect to her angles for some time, echoing the potential for significant loss, suffering, and feeling wronged.

Saturn-Neptune can also suggest the potential for taking responsibility for looking after others in a compassionate way, and Bindi has an otherwise unaspected* (“island”) Venus-Mars conjunction in Cancer in her natal 4th. Island conjunctions can work as powerfully as unaspected planets, tending to run away with the horoscope behaviourally. While this suggests her devoted attachment to her parents, as well as her potential to be a warmly loving and deeply caring person, the same planetary pair rule her Ascendant-Descendant axis and are indicative of a highly protective nature which will probably see her continue to work with others and the environment in a socially effective, humanitarian way. This potential is echoed in her Moon-Uranus opposition, which also seems to reflect her father’s ability to “think outside the square”.

Hillary's horoscope suggests a formidably authoritative, ambitious, shrewd, and controlled public profile (natal Saturn in Leo squares MC ruler Mercury, which conjoins the Ascendant and the Nodal Axis). The Sun and Venus are in Scorpio in the 12th, with Venus, Descendant ruler, squaring a Mars-Pluto conjunction, suggesting power-control needs and a passionate, driven, uncompromising commitment to a cause. Behind-the-scenes power planning - the machinations of politics - would come naturally to her.

The idealistic, intuitive Moon in Pisces is sharpened in its intellectual skills by its square with radical Uranus in Gemini, suggesting the socialistic views and radical feminism for which she has become famous. But altogether, the uncompromising, steely tenor of the horoscope suggests she has made and will continue to make enemies along the way and her husband Bill is an ideal balance for her perspective, in terms of his easy charisma and conciliation skills. She supported him through the challenges and traumas of his presidency - will he support her as well during hers, should she win in 2008?

So, will Hillary be elected the first female President of the USA at the nation's next election in November, 2008? Or won't she? All things being equal and she decides to run, I believe she has a very good chance of success. During the run-up to the election (November 4, 2008) and afterwards, there are several astrological signatures that suggest that should she run for President, she could win.

First, Solar Arc (SA) Jupiter has arced to aspect her natal Sun, suggesting big-time reward and success. Natally, their joint symbolism reflects extraordinarily well her career as an attorney, First Lady, then politician on a national/international, scale. Jupiter in Sagittarius rises at the Ascendant, and the Sun disposits a 9th-house stellium which is part of a formidable t-square involving the rulers of not only the Ascendant-Descendant axis, but also the MC! Solar Arc Moon conjunct the Nodal Axis during the election campaign in 2008 is further indication that public attention is extraordinarily drawn to her at that time.

Hillary might prove to be the USA's answer to Britain's first female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. Despite Hillary's former reputation for social idealism, from the horoscope she does indeed appear like another "iron lady"! Once she has her "feet under the desk" she could prove to be another ruler with an iron fist. Margaret Thatcher's natal Moon-Neptune conjunction is an echo of Hillary's Moon in Pisces, suggesting the initial appearance at least, of a velvet glove softening the iron fist.

Contacts with the horoscope of a nation can be helpful to assess whether a potential leader will be successful in his-her bid for its leadership. George W Bush is a great example, with his Sun at 13 Cancer conjunct the USA Sun (USA: 4 July 1776, Philadelphia). But Hillary's Asc/MC midpoint (nexus of personal identity and worldly status) at 13 Libra conjoins the USA's Saturn. Hillary being a Saturnian type, and bearing in mind the state of the USA after a long, gruelling, expensive Middle Eastern war, the nation will be in need of a leader who is capable of austere, even ruthless restructuring and "tough love" to rebuild morale. She will also be experiencing her second Saturn return so it should be a dual labor of love.

Her natal Vertex at 4 Cancer (some astrologers see the Vertex as a fated point of association between people and/or events) is conjunct the USA's Venus-Jupiter conjunction - surely a possible indicator of a female president. Corroborating this possibility is Hillary's SA Sun in 2008-9 conjoining her Vertex-Anti-vertex axis, thus linking with the USA Venus-Jupiter conjunction!

For unprecedented events, and for reversals of former status (in this case, a first female leader of the most powerful nation in the world in modern times) we look to Uranus. Transit Uranus will conjoin Hillary's Moon at 22 Pisces (ruler of her political 9th) throughout the lead up to the election and after inauguration. Transit Saturn has been conjunct her Midheaven during the year, suggesting an extremely important time of life development and major change in the profession. The transit Saturn-Uranus opposition in the sky of itself suggests a major break from the past, as it squares the USA Mars at 21 Gemini (male symbolism).

Hillary's relationship profile is extremely challenged astrologically - she has her extreme supporters and detractors. So, of concern is transit Neptune squaring her Ascendant-Descendant and Nodal axes during election time. This could not only involve detractors attempting yet again to discredit her (she and Bill have hardly escaped scandal since coming to prominence, e.g. the Whitewater "whitewash") but Neptune suggests that her physical health and strength, as well as her nerves, could be undermined by a gruelling campaign (Neptune will also oppose her Saturn and square her Mercury, MC ruler of reputation). The Neptune transit suggests that much could be done by Republican interests to undermine her personally and professionally.

But some important midpoints at that time are also supportive of her success: SA Venus prior to the election will midpoint Jupiter/MC, suggesting success, reward, and popularity. And SA Pluto = Jupiter/MC during 2009 suggests substantial gains, together with potential for extraordinary achievement and recognition.

For the January 20, 2009 12:00pm inauguration in Washington, DC you could expect that the event chart would reflect change to a female president. And it does - on cue, Venus, Ascendant ruler, is conjunct Uranus! The Midheaven ruler, Saturn, opposes the conjunction, reflecting potential for a breakaway from the male tradition of US presidents. This new condition is also reflected by the stellium in Aquarius in the 10th house of Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and the North Node. The inauguration Moon in the 7th house is exactly conjunct Hillary's 1st-house Jupiter!

The rare eclipse of the Sun by Venus in 2004 is perhaps also reflected in this event of the first female presidency. (Condoleezza Rice trailblazed that year, with her ascendancy to Secretary of State, the most powerful and highest-ranking woman next to the USA President in the existing regime.) Symbolism of the feminine archetype (Venus) is clear - the previous occultation of the Sun by Venus in 1882 immediately preceded women's suffrage. Hillary's Secondary Progressed Moon is conjunct the degree of that 2004 Sun-Venus occultation at 17 Gemini, and at inauguration, Venus exactly squares that degree! The synchronicity seems to suggest a victory for Hillary.
