Meet The Creators
Stephanie Johnson is a founder of Esoteric Technologies, the company that creates the Solar Fire suite of astrology products. She has helped create, design, develop and author Solar Fire and the other products. In particular she is the author of many of the Solar Writer range of astrology report writers. (Click here to see a sample of one of her reports). She is now the sole Director for Esoteric Technologies.
Stephanie runs her own Seeing With Stars astrology consultation business as well as editing the Australian Data Collection. She holds a Federation of Australian Astrologers' Practitioner's Certificate and Diploma and is a member of the Federation of Australian Astrologers. She is a student of Medieval Astrology and the Ancient Wisdom teachings. She holds a Masters of Science degree in Esotericism from the University of the Seven Rays, New Jersey, USA, as well as the Robert Zoller Certificate of Medieval Astrology. She has lectured at national conferences, and her astrology articles have appeared in Australian publications including the FAA Journal and the Astrological Monthly Review. Graham Dawson was one of the founders of Esoteric Technologies and Chief Programmer for 17 years before moving on to a broader development platform.
Graham's role was taken over by Neville Lang in 2007 who continued to develop the Esoteric Technologies’ range of astrology software and remained as Solar Fire’s Chief Programmer until his death on April 28, 2011. Neville is sorely missed both here and by the astrological community around the world.
In 2009 Stephanie Johnson took over as the sole director of Esoteric Technologies Pty Ltd., the company behind Australia's successful software programs Solar Fire, Solar Maps, Solar Writer, Solar Spark and JigSaw.
It is the most successful astrological software company in Australia, and enjoys a world-class reputation for the brilliance of its product design.
In 1994 the company was awarded the Federation of Australian Astrologers' Southern Cross Award for Research and Development, and in 1998 the directors were awarded the Southern Cross award for Community Service and Research.

THE SOLAR FIRE TEAM
In this section we would like to acknowledge some of the people who have supported the company as office staff, authors or technical personnel.
Eric Barre has joined the Esotech team as a software developer. He has
worked for seven years in international telecommunications companies
as an engineer analyst/developer, as well as a team leader. He began his career working for a cell phones manufacturer in France, and then continued
to work for embedded telecommunication devices for industry. He was also managing support for customers and enjoyed helping clients. Eric also likes developing websites and using internet technologies. As a member of
Esotech he says it is a pleasure for him to discover and learn astrology calculations.
Suzanne Pfitzner has worked as a nurse, massage therapist, reflexologist and aromatherapist for 20 years, both here and in London.
She is also a Reiki practitioner and a trained Rebirther, and has incorporated Breathwork into her practice.
In recent years, she has followed up a lifelong interest in Astrology by gaining her Diploma with the Astrological Guild of Educators
International in 2008. She also studies Traditional Astrology techniques with Astro Mundi and Hellenistic Astrology with Chris Brennan.
Suzanne is a member of the FAA, serving on the FAASA committee. Suzanne has started work with the Solar Fire team in public relations.
She can be found on the Solar Fire Face Book group and at Solar Fire events.
Zane B Stein, in typical Gemini fashion, has been active in a number of different careers. He has been involved with astrology for more than 40 years, and is known for his pioneering research on Chiron. As an astrologer, he is a member of both ISAR and AFAN. He has also been working as an IT Technical Support Specialist for the past 13 years, helping to solve software, hardware and internet problems. Zane has worked as a salesman, designed websites,
has a degree in hypnosis and has interviewed a number of noted show business personalities for newspaper articles.
Originally from the United States, he has recently relocated to make Australia his new home. We welcome Zane to our team in his role as Technical Support officer.

Rhonda Buttery has long been associated with Solar Fire as the Queensland agent. She runs our Online Training sessions. Rhonda has served for many years as secretary then president of the Queensland Federation of Astrologers (QFA) and as a Qld rep on the Federation of Australian Astrologers National Council. She is also webmaster for the QFA.
Rhonda has had many years’ experience in training and computer operation. Her teaching career began with an afternoon ballet school whilst completing high school. She also taught machine knitting, produced exclusive designer knitwear for Melbourne fashion stores and private clients then completed her typewriting teacher’s diploma. She then taught typing and administration at Business College. When the workplace training system changed in the late 90s, she worked as a Workplace Trainer in Office Administration.
OUR AUTHORS
Bernadette
Brady is a Fellow of the Federation of Australian Astrologers (FAA).
She is a teacher, author and consulting astrologer of many years experience.
Her publications include: the astrological software package JigSaw
(co-authored with Esoteric Technologies); books, The Eagle and the Lark:
a Textbook of Predictive Astrology (Weiser USA, 1992 & 1998) and Brady's
Book of Fixed Stars (Weiser, USA 1998). Bernadette was awarded the FAA's
Inaugural Southern Cross Award for Excellency in the Spoken and Written Word
as well as the FAA's Southern Cross award for Research. In 1998, along with
Darrelyn Gunzburg, she was awarded the FAA Southern Cross Award for Education.
In 1999 she received the inaugural Spica Award from the UK for her book The
Eagle and the Lark: a Textbook of Predictive Astrology. She has also published
many articles in Australia, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada and NZ and most years
lectures at conferences in Europe, and the USA.
Dr
Lee Lehman holds MS and PhD degrees in Botany from Rutgers University.
Her astrological interests have included new asteroids, historical methods,
heliocentric astrology, horary and homosexuality. She has published four books
to date: The Ultimate Asteroid Book (1988), Essential Dignities
(1989), The Book of Rulerships (1992), Classical Astrology for Modern
Living (1996) and The Martial Art of Horary Astrology (2002). She
was the recipient of the 1995 Marc Edmund Jones Award, the first Horary Astrologer
to be so honoured.
Dr Lehman is
a faculty member of the Kepler College of Astrology and runs several of her
own correspondence courses on Classical Astrology and is the author of Solar
Writer—Classical and Solar
Writer—Medicus.
Author and
lecturer Diana
K Rosenberg has been acclaimed as the world's foremost
authority on Fixed Stars. A founding member and
Vice-President of The Uranian Society, she has written articles for the Mountain
Astrologer, NCGR Journal, Geocosmic News, TheTraditional Astrologer, Astrology
Quarterly, Ingress, Heliogram, Urania, Dell Horoscope & American Astrology
magazines.
She is the author of "The New Fixed Star Workbook",
"Nakshatras, Manzils and Hsiu: Hindu, Arabic
and Chinese Lunar Mansions Research Workbook" and a "Correspondence Course
in Fixed Stars and Constellations" . She is the author of Solar
Writer - Fixed Stars.
Malvin Artley has been a practising astrologer for the past 10 years. He is an accredited member of the American Federation of Astrologers. His primary focus over the past 25 years has been on the sciences as they express occultism and with bridging work between the two.
His special interests are the human subtle
energy system and all the chakras, or energy centres, physics and technology,
astronomy and all aspects of Chinese occultism. He has done extensive work
with Chinese astrology and the cycles they use and seeks to synthesize the
great Western and Oriental systems on such matters. Malvin is the author of
the interpretations in our Chinese astrology program for western Astrologers
- The Imperial Astrologer.
Brian Clark is one of the main tutors of a four-year program in applied astrology for Astro*Synthesis. He has been active in astrology since 1972, having served as National President for both The Fraternity for Canadian Astrologers and The Federation of Australian Astrologers FAA.
He has twice received awards from the Canadian astrological society, received the Education Award from the FAA and been nominated three times for the International Regulus Award. Brian also lectures on myth and conducts tours to sacred sites in Greece through Odyssey. Brian has a BA from Sir George Williams University in Montreal, Canada and a Post Graduate Diploma in Classics and Archaeology from Melbourne University.
He is the author of The Sibling Constellation(Penguin, 1999) and a contributing author to Intimate Relationships (Llewellyn, 1991), books that have also been translated into French and Japanese. A new book called Celestial Tarot is soon to be published by US Games Systems, Inc. He is one of the authors of Solar Writer - Goddess, and wrote Solar Writer - Vocation and Solar Writer - Kindred Spirits
Michele Finey is an astrologer, freelance writer, healer and hypnotherapist, based in Melbourne. Born in 1959, Michele developed an interest in the planets
in childhood and began teaching herself astrology in 1980. After further study with the Melbourne School of Astrology,
Michele gained an FAA Diploma and served on several FAA committees in the '80s and '90s. In the early '90s Michele qualified in Clinical Hypnosis and more recently gained an
Arts Diploma in Professional Writing and Editing. Michele has written feature articles for numerous publications and is a member of the Association of Professional Astrologers.

Kay Steventon is a Australian-based artist and astrologer. After graduating in 1980 with a Diploma Fine Art, Kay gained the Federation of Australian Astrologers’ Professional Astrologer qualification, and 'Living The Tarot' Diploma. Since 1966 Kay has had many solo and mixed exhibitions in her home city of Melbourne, Australia, and overseas, specializing in symbolic art in 1992. Her first Tarot deck and book, 'The Spiral Tarot', was published in 1998. Kay's second Deck, 'Celestial Tarot', was published in 2003 with the Celestial book written by Brian Clark. A 52 card deck, 'Goddessess and Heroines' was published in 2005, again a joint effort by Kay and Brian Clark. Kay is the illustrator for Esoteric Technologies’ Solar Writer – Health and Wellbeing and Solar Writer - Goddess.
Julian Venables is based in Brighton and Hove, England, where he works as a client-based astrologer, teaching beginners’ classes as well as conducting private tuition. He is one of the consultants on the international astrology telephone service, 'Astro-live-link'.
Julian holds the certificate from The Faculty of Astrological Studies and has recently completed his Diploma studies and Exams.
As a part of his studies he attended four summer schools at Brasenose College, Oxford University, being lectured by the world’s most eminent astrologers. He was on the committee of The Astrology Lodge of London where he still involved in organizing and running the meetings; he is also a member of The Astrological Association of Great Britain.
In 2005 he began teaching astrology to groups, most recently at the ‘Rainbow Circle' Astrology and Holistic camps, alongside Jonathan Cainer.
Julian has written the Midpoint Interpretations for Solar Fire Gold astrological software and is currently writing his first novel.
Stephanie Clement has been practicing astrology for more than thirty years. A board member of the American Federation of Astrologers and member of NCGR, Stephanie has served on the faculty of Kepler College and has been a speaker throughout the US and in Canada.
Stephanie has published numerous articles in astrological magazines and has written several books: 'Charting Your Spiritual Path with Astrology', 'Dreams: Working Interactive, Meditation for Beginners' (also available in Spanish and other languages), 'Power of the Midheaven', 'Mapping Your Birthchart', 'Mapping Your Family Relationships', 'Mapping Your Sex Life', and 'Aspect Patterns'. Stephanie is the author of Solar Writer - Angel Coming Soon.
Hank Friedman is renowned in the United States’ San Francisco Bay Area for his astrological, psychic, and transformative counseling work with individuals and couples.
He is also an expert on astrology software, having written articles and software reviews for American Astrology, Gochara, the AFA journal, and The Mountain Astrologer; and authored the book, "Astrology on Your Personal Computer." Hank offers over a hundred free tutorials in astrology on his website, www.soulhealing.com and has donated many of his chart wheel designs and Chart Art pages for use in Solar Fire.
Lynda Hill is a second-generation astrologer and author. She has a popular astrological practice servicing clients in person at her home in Avalon, Sydney, Australia and world-wide by phone and email. She is an author, teacher, lecturer and speaker and is known for her light, easy-to-understand style and desire to communicate. Her specialty in astrology is the Sabian Symbols, she is considered to be the world’s leading expert in their use and application. Having completed 25 lecture tours of the United States and 3 world tours, she is well known and respected in both the astrological and new age markets. Her book, 360 Degrees of Wisdom: Charting Your Destiny With the Sabian Oracle has been published by Penguin USA (Plume imprint) and Sony Magazines in Japanese. Alice Portman is an Australian Astrologer who has consulted and taught professionally for nearly 40 years. In 1984, she received her Professional Member of the Federation of Australian Astrologers (PMFAA)
qualification and then became an Examiner for the FAA in 1986-1988.
Alice has spoken at a number of Federation of Australian Astrologers (FAA) conferences the most recent being in Melbourne in January 2006.
Her major expertise is in Tropical Astrology, but she is also a long term student of Vedic Astrology and Chinese Astrology. Alice has written the interpretations for the Vertex which have been included in the Solar Fire

Janet Bridgland is an artist and illustrator who paints in water colour. She works in a secondhand book shop called Back Pages Books, where she paints by a window overlooking a courtyard where the light is good. Her work may be seen there. She also exhibits at Greenhill Galleries in North Adelaide, Australia. Janet has illustrated many of our Solar Writers including Solar Writers - Modern, Zodiac Child, Synastry and Solar Returns.
